Q. Why travel all the way to France when I can do the course in
the UK?
A.
This is certainly an option, but be prepared for days (or several
days) when the weather in the UK makes it impossible to fly. If
you have limited time this can become very frustrating. Learning
at the Dune is a great way of maximising the number of days flown
and continuous learning is much better than doing it over a long
period. Financially it makes sense too. Six days training on the
Dune costs £695, roughly £116 per day - and this includes
accomodation and transport! In the UK, a five day EP course costs
£595 with associated fuel costs on top. You do the sums!
Q.
Which flights are you doing airport transfers for?
A.
Please contact us to find out which flight(s) we can collect you
from for each trip. In 2004 we recommended BA flights from either
Manchester or Gatwick which cost around £100 return.
Q.
What
happens if I am part way through a course with you in the UK?
A.
We treat the training trips abroad as a totally seperate thing.
Because our costs are fixed regardless of the number of flyable
days we get while abroad we ask you to take joint responsibility
for the weather - besides, you get a great holiday regardless!
So you pay for the trip and if you finish your course while abroad,
any outstanding credit for days paid for on our UK courses will
be credited.
Q.
What
happens if I am part way through a course elsewhere?
A.
This should not pose a problem so long as you can obtain your
training records from the school you have been training with.
Q.
Do
I need my own equipment?
A.
No. We provide all the
paragliding equipment you will need. Just bring suitable clothes
and footwear - usually a pair of light trousers and lightweight
walking boots are sufficient. Oh yes, and your swimming gear!
Q.
I
would like to stay for an irregular number of days, can you accomodate
this?
A.
Yes! We can usually be
flexible on this but be prepared to pay for your own airport transfers
if the times and dates do not coincide with our pick-ups. Since
we generally run beginners courses, you will need to be there
from the start of the trip, but you dont necessarily need to stay
for multiples of a week.
Q.
Do
you do group discounts?
A.
We have no specific discount
structure, but if you have a group of 4 or more and are willing
for one person to be the contact for the group, then we will be
able to offer you some discount.
Q.
How
reliable is the weather?
A.
We never guarantee the
weather anywhere, but the Dune offers at least twice the average
number of flyable days as the UK.
Q.
What
if it is unflyable?
A.
We have a repertoire of
activities and places to visit in reserve for these occasions,
ranging from chilling out at the campsite to off-road motorbiking.
It may be worth bringing kiting equipment if you have some.
Q.
What
if I don't finish my course?
A.
You
can add days to the holiday (sometimes even when you are already
there, we try to be as flexible as possible!) or you can choose
to continue in the UK at our flying centre conveniently located
between the North Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. These
course will be charged at the normal rates, with full credit being
given for the tasks already completed.
Q.
Can
I bring my non-flying partner and/or family?
A.
Yes! The Dune is perfect
for families as you will have your own mobile home and the campsite
is ideal for children as there is no fast traffic and many amenities
on site. Most family groups prefer to hire their own car.
