Passed
your CP and looking forward to getting your hands "dirty"
with some thermal soaring? Then this is the trip for you. The beautiful
and spectacular mountains of Monetengro form a fabulous backdrop to an attractive bay with lovely beaches and the medieval port of Budva.
Who
is it for?
This trip is primarily aimed at the post CP pilot looking to further
their skills. Although we will happily take newly qualified pilots,
good forward-launch technique is required as the launch area is
fairly small and committed. Please practice beforehand! Although
a guided holiday, we usually have two experienced instructors
on hand to give you help and advice. We recommend the use of 2m
radios so that we can help you conect with and stay in the thermals.
If conditions allow, cross country flights are possible.
The
Flying
There are several flying sites, all of which are described in more detail on the website www.montenegrofly.com. The most convenient and most often used site is directly overlooking the bay and offers an impressive 760m top to bottom with a landing on the beach. Good for repeat flights as there is a main road direct to take off, quick turn around times for training. Great for learning to thermal and also good for manoeuvres such a B lines, wingovers and spirals or acro! The XC record is 35km along the coastal mountain range.
Other sites add some nice variety, and one in particular, Lovcen offers one of the biggest top to bottom heights in the world - 1740m (5700ft).

The
Holiday
The trip is a 7 day trip with a potential 6 days flying. Flights to Dubrovnik are very reasonably priced. This trip is ideal for non-flying partners/friends as the flying is mostly within the bay and landings are often on the beach! The town of Budva is a beautiful medieval walled port full of very attractive shops and restaurants. Public transport is cheap and effective allowing easy travel to and from the accommodation. Other sites are recommended from a site-seeing point of view as inland Montenegro is beautiful and untouched. There are many other activities available to keep everyone happy. Check out the details here.
Accommodation
This is within the purpose-built and newly completed Adventure Centre.
There are six en-suite twin bedrooms and a large lounge with satellite TV, video, DVD and internet connection. We have inside and outside dining areas off the large, fully-fitted kitchen, also terraces with a barbecue and seating. It is probably the only non-smoking accommodation available in Montenegro and all rooms are fitted with cigarette smoke detectors.
The centre situated high above the resort town of Budva with panoramic views and peace and quiet as standard. The Centre is also on the edge of Lovcen National Park and some walking and cycling routes start right outside the back door.
The restaurants and beaches of Budva are a short twenty minute drive away.
Accommodation is on a B&B twin room shared basis.
Mountain bikes can be borrowed by guests free of charge!
