Exotic and Unspoilt with flying for all levels

The Location
We at Sunsoar are very excited about this, our latest venue for both paragliding training and Post Club Pilot development. We use several sites along the coast including a purpose built 800 foot take off area situated a mile inland from the South Moroccan Atlantic coast about 30 minutes south of the old fortified town of Tiznet. Most of the ridges boast extensive flat tops ideal for those elusive top landings! Look out from the ridge and you will see flat land reaching towards the sand dunes on the coast which provide a safe and ideal environment for the low airtime student.We also take a day or two to visit 'Plage Blanc' situated on the coast of the Western Sahara -fifty kilometers of untouched dunes!

This area, situated as it is between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sahara Desert, is totally unspoiled by tourism (unlike the North of Morocco). If you like Sun, sea and consistent flying conditions with lots of peace and quiet this must be one of the most chilled locations you will find. If it's discos and night life that you crave then it won't be for you! Our base is the Abertih Hotelin the nearby village of Mirleft,about twenty minutes away from the main site.Mirleft is a charming lttle town with various small shops and restaurants. Although not a drinking culture, alcohol is available when asked for. The pace of life is refreshingly slow and the local people very extremely hospitable and friendly.Aleady one of our ex students who got his Club Pilot certification on our last trip has bought a house there and 2 more are working on it!.

Courses Available
Because this location will cater for students of all levels from early Elementary Pilot upwards as well as for Club Pilots who want to develop their airtime, we are structuring the course according to the individual's needs. You will want to have achieved at least 2 days of EPC prior to this trip.

Accommodation
Your accommodation will be at the Abertih Hotel in Mirleft. Built in the local Moorish style this charming family run guest house has proven itself to be a real favorite with all who have stayed there.Damien the owner is the man to consult on just about everything in the area! and he speaks fluent Englsh.There are several restaurants to choose from in the area but the Abertih is most popular because of it's legendery 'tagine's'.

Transport
The course includes all transport. This includes airport transfers from Agadir which is about 2 hours away. (Provided you arrive at the recommended times). Also transfers to take off, we use 4x4 safari vehicles so no more running up and down hills! We may also travel as group in the evening.

Non Flyers
Partners and non flyers are welcome on this trip but it should be emphasised that although tourism is beginning here and there are all the basic facilities available, it is not a resort as such. If your partner wants some peace and quiet in an exotic and friendly location in lovely weather then this could be just the place!You can walk literally for miles along deserted beaches meeting only the odd fisherman and the seagulls! It is also a great opportunity to see Moroccon life and experience the culture of the country in a totally unspoiled way.

Summary
Our Moroccan trip has great potential for all levels of student as well as those wishing to develop their skills and airtime. It is a place where the weather seems consistently good throughout our winter when the opportunity to fly at home will be very limited. The terrain, a long ridge with flat lands reaching out to the coast a mile away is not unlike the places you may fly at home but with the benefits smooth sea breezes and gentle thermals.

Flights and Trip Info for Autumn 2008
Flights can be tricky to organise and availability is variable. We scour the market to find the best deals and easiest routes.

For our Autumn 2008 trips the following is a guide to the recommended flights.

The trips are 1 or 2 week trips and run from Wed to Wed. Thomsonfly operate direct flights to Agadir from Manchester, Birmingham or Gatwick.

You can book these via Thomsonfly direct or we find that sometimes Travel Republic are cheaper.

These are the only flights we can guarantee an airport transfer for.

Other Options

Easyjet operate cheap flights to Marakech from London Luton.

It is a 5/6 hour drive from Marakech to Mirleft (where we are based) .A taxi which can take up to 4 people max. costs about 1200 dihrams ( approx £85) which can make it quite cheap especially if you share. You would need to come at least one day earlier and leave one day later than our dates and stay over in Marakech --cost approximately £20 per person. We can arrange the taxi and overnight stay for you. Please contact us if you decide to take this option.
